Prysmian Cavi e Sistemi Energia S.r.l. (Prysmian) (Italy) specializes in the production of power cables, their components and related accessories. Prysmian owns large manufacturing capacities and is the holder of a variety of intellectual property rights, specifically, patents, know-how and trademarks.
With the aim of investing in the development of its business in Russia, the company decided to offer a license of the unique patented technologies, protected objects of know-how and key brands (trademarks) in favor of its Russian partners.
To implement this project, Prysmian turned to us as one of the leading companies in the field of intellectual property commercialization and technology transfers in order to ensure the compliance of the relevant licensing transactions with the principles of the Russian law and secure registration of the corresponding licenses with Rospatent.

Solution

As part of this project relating to the licensing of different technologies for the production of power cables and certain components on the territory of Russia, the lawyers "Gorodissky & Partners" have advised Prysmian in detail on all legal aspects as to the licensing and sub-licensing of the protected intellectual property rights, as well as the relevant technology transfers to the benefit of third parties under a series of licensing transactions.
During our consultations we have provided services for the review and preparation of relevant transaction documents, including license and sub-license agreements involving the transfer of patents, know-how and trademarks, as well as services for the registration of the licensing transactions with Rospatent.
In addition, we have conducted a legal due diligence of all intellectual property rights that were subject to contract.

Result

In the course of this project Prysmian has successfully entered the Russian technology cable market and secured the manufacture of its products through the agency of its Russian counterparties.
This project united the experts of "Gorodissky & Partners", who have provided a full legal support in terms of implementation of all the licensing transactions comprising different intellectual property subject matters, including their registration.
The project is exclusive by its nature, scope and structure.
